In the picturesque Laurentian community of Val-David, approximately 80 kilometers north of Montreal, a significant architectural achievement has recently been realized. The Des Cimes Dental Clinic, a testament to contemporary design and environmental harmony, officially opened its doors in 2024. This unique two-story building, spanning an impressive 6363 square feet, was conceptualized and brought to life by the renowned firm CARTA. Architecte + Designer.

The project's vision was to create a facility that not only offers state-of-the-art dental and implantology services but also profoundly reflects the intrinsic artistic spirit and rugged natural splendor of Val-David. The design successfully integrates a dedicated commercial space, fostering a vibrant hub within the community. The clinic's construction involved a collaborative effort, with Syscomax serving as the general contractor, Equipe Laurence managing the civil engineering aspects, and Structures Chartrand overseeing the structural engineering. The natural integration of the site was further enhanced by Atelier Espace B for landscape architecture and Geoposition for urban planning, ensuring the building complements its serene Laurentian environment. Maxime Riopel served as the lead architect, guiding the project from conception to its grand completion.

The successful realization of the Des Cimes Dental Clinic demonstrates a commitment to creating healthcare spaces that are both functional and inspiring. It sets a new benchmark for how modern medical facilities can thoughtfully interact with their environment, promoting well-being through design. In Harmonia, a residential property underwent a remarkable metamorphosis, transitioning from its 1960s origins into a serene, contemplative haven. This extensive renovation, spearheaded by Atelier 008, meticulously refined the dwelling's spaces, emphasizing a purification that unveiled the inherent structural beauty and redefined its character as a peaceful retreat.

The architectural team, under the guidance of lead architect Jan Kukula, alongside Romana Kukulova, focused on a design philosophy that prioritized clarity and essentialism. Their objective was to deconstruct the previously fragmented layout and reconstruct it into a cohesive and harmonious living environment. The transformation was completed in 2025, marking a significant update to the original structure located in Modra, Slovakia.

The project, encompassing a total area of 201 square meters, involved carefully peeling back layers of past modifications to expose the foundational elements of the house. This process allowed for a redesign that highlighted the structural integrity and spatial flow, resulting in an interior that exudes calm and order. The new design incorporates clean lines, natural light, and a minimalist aesthetic, fostering a sense of tranquility throughout the home.

The material palette chosen for the renovation reflects this pursuit of purity and functionality, utilizing products from manufacturers such as Baumit, Davide Groppi, and Desalto, among others, to achieve a refined finish. The strategic placement of lighting fixtures, including those from Studio Italia Design - Lodes, further enhances the meditative atmosphere, casting soft glows that accentuate the architectural details and textures. Photographer Matej Hakár's work beautifully captures the essence of this transformed residence, showcasing the interplay of light, space, and materiality.

The reimagined residence in Harmonia stands as a testament to thoughtful architectural intervention, demonstrating how a property's inherent qualities can be elevated through a focused and sensitive design approach. It exemplifies a successful conversion from a dated structure into a modern, minimalist home that provides a tranquil sanctuary for its inhabitants.

MVRDV has successfully brought to fruition the La Vallée Verte residential development, nestled within the thoughtfully designed Bastide Niel area of Bordeaux. This project marks a significant contribution to the district's evolving architectural landscape. It skillfully combines the distinctive angled structures that characterize MVRDV's overarching Bastide Niel masterplan with an unexpected natural focal point: a vibrant, circular inner courtyard teeming with diverse plant life. This verdant 'crater' provides residents with expansive, plant-adorned terraces, fostering a deep connection to nature within an urban setting.

Diverse Homes for a Dynamic Community

The development offers a collection of 70 contemporary residences, thoughtfully designed to cater to individuals and families at various life stages. The architectural approach ensures a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere. The exterior of the building, rendered in a crisp white, harmonizes effortlessly with the innovative and forward-thinking aesthetic of the surrounding Bastide Niel district. This sleek outer shell discreetly conceals the true gem of the project: an interior sanctuary.

Beyond its modern facade, La Vallée Verte reveals a captivating circular courtyard, a private haven designed for tranquility and relaxation.
